ORBITAL PRESENTING GASEOUS DIRECT
INJECTION PAPER AT ANGVA CONFERENCE
Orbital will be attending and presenting a
technical paper at the ANGVA Natural Gas Vehicle conference being
held this week in Bangkok. The ANGVA conference is the annual key
event for the global Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) industry.
Over 1,000 delegates from Fleet operators,
Government policy makers and regulators, energy suppliers, equipment
and component manufacturers, technology developers and researchers
are expected to attend the Conference and Exhibition.
The Asia-Pacific region represents one of the
fastest growing NGV markets in the world, with Thailand expecting
unprecedented growth in NGV vehicle numbers rising from 25,000 NGV's
to a potential 250,000 NGV's by 2011.
Other countries like China, India, Pakistan,
Bangladesh, Malaysia, Australia, Korea, Japan, Iran, UAE and others
regional countries are also experiencing strong growth as governments
and fleet operators pursue energy security, air pollution reduction
and greenhouse gas emission reductions through NGV and alternative
fuel programs.
Orbital's paper, titled "Hydrogen Addition
Strategy for Lean Limit Extension of a Natural Gas Engine"
explores the positive effects of blending hydrogen with Compressed
Natural Gas (CNG) in terms of engine emissions and efficiency. By
using the existing CNG distribution infrastructure, blending of
hydrogen with CNG could harnesses some of the well recognised attributes
of hydrogen as a fuel without the need for massive investment to
set up hydrogen distribution networks.
The Orbital Flex DI "One Engine - Any
Fuel" system is well suited to the direct in cylinder injection
of gaseous fuels, enabling a wide range of fuel compositions to
be used to suit a particular market or requirement.
