UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
MOTORSPORT TEAM 2ND IN USA COMPETITION
Congratulations to
University of Western Australia Motorsport (UWAM) team in achieving
2nd overall in the prestigious USA Formula SAE competition completed
last week at the Ford Proving Ground in Detroit.
UWAM was one of 106 international competitors,
and came a very close second overall to the University of Wisconsin,
with Graz University of Technology (Austria) finishing third.
The formula SAE vehicle prepared by the UWAM
achieved first place in the endurance assessment, 2nd in the overall
presentation, 3rd in the acceleration category and 4th in the Autocross.
These results, matching the 2nd overall performance
in 2005 at the USA event, and previous winning of Australasia competitions
shows the dedication and quality of engineering produced in Western
Australia.
Orbital, has been a platinum sponsor of the
UWAM team for the last 3-4 years, providing technical support and
training as well as access to Orbital's state of the art automotive
testing and development facilities to assist the UWAM team.
The UWAM activities are an excellent training
and discipline for engineers, and a number of Orbital's recent graduate
employees have come from these programs.
