MERCURY MARINE LAUNCHES TWO NEW
FUEL-EFFICIENT OPTIMAX OUTBOARDS
Mercury Marine, the
largest USA outboard manufacturer, has announced the introduction
of two new OptiMax outboard models for the northern hemisphere summer.
The two new outboards,
the 200 Pro XS and the 125 hp, use the Orbital FlexDI systems.
They are reported as having best in class fuel economy and both
engines have been certified for the California 3 Star emission standards
which are the most stringent standards for outboards today in the
world.
The 200 Pro XS, designed
for the professional sports fisherman and other high performance
applications, is based on the successful 3.0 litre V6 engine platform
with the new 125 hp based on the in-line 3 cylinder 1.5 litre engine
platform.
The OptiMax outboard
series was first introduced by Mercury Marine in 1996, and now covers
a full range from 75 through to 300 hp, including several special
racing/high performance engines and 2 jet drive outboards.
Synerject, Orbital's
Joint Venture partnership with Continental AG is a key supplier
to Mercury for the OptiMax fuel injection systems.
