ORBITAL GAS PRODUCTS MAKES KEY
APPOINTMENT
Orbital Gas Products
has appointed Phillip Westlake to the key role of Business Development
Manager as it prepares to launch new products into the Australian
market for LPG Autogas systems.
Mr Westlake joins Orbital after a long period
of success with the LPG industry's peak representative association,
LPG Australia.
Mr Westlake was LPG Australia's National Industry
Development Manager and prior to that, served for periods as the
association's Communications Manager and Technical Manager - Automotive.
"Phil is a well known and highly respected
member of the LPG industry who brings 23 years worth of Autogas
experience to Orbital," said Orbital Gas Products' Managing
Director Tony Fitzgerald.
"Phil's considerable knowledge and skills
will be invaluable to us as we seek to build our LPG Autogas aftermarket
business whilst also developing our OEM supply business," said
Mr Fitzgerald.
Mr Westlake was responsible for LPG Australia's
industry development, advertising and public relations campaigns
in the period before and after the Federal Government's August 2006
announcement of an LPG conversion grants scheme for private motorists.
Phil Westlake joins Orbital as the company
prepares to launch a range of Liquid Phase Injection (LPi) retrofit
systems in the Australian aftermarket.
Orbital Gas Products is a national leader in
the development of LPi, having entered into agreements with Vialle,
Continental and LPG-Liquid Inject for access to their LPG technology
and patent portfolios.
"Liquid phase injection is widely accepted
by the automotive industry as delivering greatly increased performance,
driveability and fuel economy compared with current-generation fumigation-type,
or vapour injection-type LPG systems," said Mr Fitzgerald.
"These real benefits can be achieved whilst
respecting stringent emissions legislation, and reducing CO2 emissions
by at least 10 per cent compared to an equivalent petrol-powered
vehicle."
Orbital Gas Products was formed in June 2008
following the acquisition by Orbital Corporation Ltd of Boral Alternative
Fuel Systems and its Ford OEM supply contract.
Ford's Falcon E-Gas models are the only factory-fitted
LPG-dedicated vehicles on the Australian market and represent more
than 25 per cent of total Falcon sales.
Orbital Corporation is an international developer
of engine and related technologies, providing research, design and
development services for the world's producers of powertrains and
engine management systems, for application in motorcycles, marine
and recreational vehicles, automobiles and trucks.
