Orbital Release "FlexECU"
Advanced R&D Control System
Orbital has developed
and recently released a powerful new Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
and control system to support advanced combustion Research and Development
for internal combustion engines.
With the ever increasing demand for improved
fuel economy, reduction in greenhouse emissions and ability to operate
with a range of liquid and gaseous alternative fuels, significant
combustion research is carried out on Single Cylinder Research Engines
(SCRE's).
Key to advanced combustion development is the
control system and ECU, especially in areas such as combined port
and direct injection, and Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition
(HCCI). To support these development areas, powerful yet very user-friendly
and flexible ECU's and control systems are required.
Orbital has been developing the FlexECU
over the last 3 years, and has now released this ECU for Orbital's
own FlexDITM Research and Development applications and to select
customers to support their research Programs.
