Orbital presenting at ATSE 31st
National Symposium
Orbital will be participating
and attending the 31st National Symposium of the Australian Academy
of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ASTE) being held in Melbourne
on the 17th and 18th November 2008.
ASTE provides information on science and technology
issues to the Victorian Parliament. The ASTE activities are conducted
under the auspices of the Presiding Officer of the Parliament and
with the support of the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional
Development.
The key theme to this year's National Symposium
is "Alternative Transport Fuels for Australia" addressing
one of the key energy issues facing Australia today. The recent
world economic events and the issue of crude oil supply drives the
need to look for alternative fuels for the Australian transport
industry, from CNG/LPG for passenger cars through to LNG for heavy
duty line-haul trucking. Australia has good domestic reserves of
these gaseous fuels potentially enabling significantly less reliance
on imported crude oils.
Some of Australia's leading authorities and
overseas speakers will address key alternative transport fuel topics
over the two days and participate in group discussions and workshops.
Representative from both the private and public sector, along with
leading researchers will be presenting the latest information in
this field.
Orbital's paper "CNG as an Alternative
Transport Fuel for Australia" will be presented by Mr Simon
Brewster, discussing the status of CNG use in Australian transport
today, along with the benefits, the potential and the challenges
for much higher CNG utilisation within Australia in the future.
