Welcome to Orbital’s website. It
gives me great pleasure to introduce myself and share this message
with you.
 I
joined Orbital because I feel the company has the potential for
significant growth and improved profitability. I have been affiliated
with Orbital in the past and witnessed the technical capabilities
of the core team and the technologies they have developed. My goal
is to build on the technical strength and bring a new business perspective
to the company. Consider the recent escalation in oil prices. The
world has a new and heightened awareness of the environmental impact
of greenhouse gases. Previously predicted shortages of gasoline
and diesel may become a reality in the not too distant future. My
view is that Orbital is better positioned to take advantage of this
changing environment than ever before.
During my time at Orbital, I have been impressed
with the team’s commitment and strong technical qualifications.
This team is the catalyst we will use to sustain and grow the current
business streams of Technical Services, Intellectual Property and
income from Joint Ventures such as Synerject, and to grow the business
into new fields like alternative energy.
I believe that the traditional Orbital business
has room to grow, become more efficient, and thereby become more
profitable. Our investment in Synerject is now paying dividends,
and this business will continue to grow and improve shareholder
value. In conjunction with the core business, my plan is to aggressively
seek expansion in the alternate fuels industry. This will be a new
commercial business direction for Orbital. There are also other
new opportunities we plan to explore, for example environmental
monitoring and testing.
Orbital is already moving into the alternate
fuels market with the acquisition of Sydney-based Boral Alternative
Fuels, a small business with excellent growth potential. Using our
technical base in Perth, we will expand the markets and the product
lines for this business. We will also soon be expanding our endeavors
in the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) business. LNG, which is used in
heavy duty diesel applications, provides significant savings for
our customers and also helps the environment.
Our focus is to use what we have learned from
the past and to build on this to achieve sustainable and profitable
growth. This will include a combination of our traditional Orbital
business and new opportunities. We have the right skills, the infrastructure
and the desire to take full advantage of these new markets. The
reward will be two fold for Orbital, we will return shareholder
value and in doing so will improve the environment.
